The Fountain Valley School District school board gave tentative approval to a new board policy that grants the district and its employees immunity from civil liability for the good-faith dissemination of information concerning sex offenders who live or work within district boundaries, as provided by law.
If the district is notified by a law enforcement agency that a sex offender is in the area, the superintendent or his designee will arrange to notify the appropriate staff members. The district does not have a mandatory duty, but may disclose such information.
The California School Boards Assn. recommended the move.
