Academy Plans Lesson in Crafting a Shofar
- Share via
With the Jewish New Year pending at sundown Sept. 10, the Hebrew Academy in Long Beach is holding a Shofar Factory to help families immerse themselves in crafting a model of a ram’s horn--a shofar--to blow on the holiday.
The shofar is used to signal the start of Rosh Hashanah and the beginning of repentance and good resolutions for a new year. The event will review the horn’s history and offer workshops, art projects and a slide presentation.
The Shofar Factory is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Silver Gan Israel campus, 14401 Willow Lane, Huntington Beach. Call (714) 898-0051 for information.
