Lobbying Workshop Scheduled for Jan. 29

Mark your calendars: The Orange County Business Council’s annual legislative advocacy workshop (that’s bureaucratese for training session on how and whom to lobby) will be held Jan. 29 from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at UC Irvine’s Beckman Laser Institute.
According to the council’s flier, attendees will learn all they need to know “about the new political climate in Sacramento and how to influence it.”
Wonder if businesses will be encouraged to find some Democrats to serve on corporate boards of directors in mostly Republican Orange County now that there will be a Democrat in the governor’s chair?
In any event, the popular workshop usually sells out (cost is $55 per person). For reservations, call the business council’s public affairs office at (949) 794-7217.
Speakers at the workshop will include former Assemblyman Curt Pringle, Bill Hauck of the California Business Roundtable and several representatives of the state Chamber of Commerce.
