Newport-Mesa Unified School District trustees have accepted a $35,000 grant to continue providing services at the Healthy Start Clinic in Costa Mesa. Board member Wendy Leece voted against the grant from PacifiCare, saying the clinic is an intrusion of government into an area that is the family’s responsibility.
The clinic provides preventive services, tuberculosis and dental screenings and immunizations.
