More than 200 Latino Lutheran ministers, lay workers and seminary students will gather next week for Encuentro ‘99, a conference at Concordia University in Irvine.
The event is intended to encourage participants to develop a vision for their communities, said coordinator the Rev. Robert Gonzalez of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Board.
The four-day conference begins at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with an opening service featuring contemporary and traditional worship songs performed by musicians from some of the 24 Latino Lutheran congregations in Southern California. The service will be in the Concordia University Center for Worship and Performing Arts.
Concordia University is at 1530 Concordia West in Irvine. Information: (949) 854-8002.
