The City Council on Monday discussed the possibility of transforming Los Alamitos Boulevard into something resembling 2nd Street in Long Beach’s Belmont Shore area as part of the 2010 General Plan. Officials want the city to have a focal point, such as a town square. Mayor Marilynn M. Poe said the stretch of Los Alamitos Boulevard from Farquhar Avenue to Cerritos Avenue would be ideal, adding that the plan would give Los Alamitos distinction and ensure a “livable” community. The council held off approving the plan until it is considered by the community development staff.
