Japanese animation just keeps getting hotter, as will be evident at the eighth annual Anime Expo this weekend in Anaheim. Some 5,000 people are expected--promoters at the sponsoring Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation say that makes it the largest show of its kind in the U.S. Along with exhibitions, seminars and talks featuring key animation directors, actors and designers, the show will include a charity auction to benefit City of Hope in Duarte, to help fight children’s diseases.
* Anaheim Hilton & Towers, 777 Convention Way. Activities run 24 hours daily, 10 a.m. today through 8 p.m. Sunday. $25 per day, or $45 for a membership to the Society for Promotion of Japanese Animation that includes three-day admission. (626) 582-8200, Ext. 120.
