* Mattel Inc. said it will pay $30 million for a 5% stake in Japanese counterpart Bandai Co. as part of a global marketing alliance. El Segundo-based Mattel plans to buy up to 2.44 million new shares of Bandai. It will obtain the right to sell the Power Rangers and other Bandai toys in Latin America, while Bandai will market Mattel’s Barbie, Hot Wheels cars and other toys in Japan.
