After a yearlong discussion among city officials, local veterans groups and residents, the City Council on Tuesday unanimously voted to begin constructing the city’s first veterans memorial. Council members voted 4 to 0, with Councilman Tom Tait absent, to award a $573,176 contract to Groundwater Remediation Construction to build a memorial on Anaheim Boulevard.
The memorial will feature a bronze bas-relief depicting participants in wars of the 20th century, water fountains and landscaping. City officials hope to unveil the memorial on Veterans Day.
