* PaineWebber Inc., the broker-dealer subsidiary of PaineWebber Group Inc., is being sued for allegedly using the confidential client information of rival Wells Fargo Securities Inc. to solicit new business. PaineWebber allegedly obtained the information from a new employee, stockbroker Scot Lance, who resigned from Wells’ securities unit Friday, according to the suit filed Tuesday in San Francisco County Superior Court.
