The historical committee voted unanimously Wednesday night to assist the city in understanding the cultural significance of its last orange grove.
The committee will present its findings on the Brower estate to the City Council on Tuesday when council members decide whether the estate is worth preserving.
The Planning Commission voted July 13 to build 16 homes at the site of the estate on Valencia Avenue and Bastanchury Road but asked the historical committee to study its significance before deciding the grove’s fate.
