Haze Dirties Skies Over Singapore

A thick haze descended on Singapore and parts of Malaysia, reminiscent of the heavy smog that choked Southeast Asia in 1997 and 1998. The Environment Ministry and the Meteorological Service said in a joint statement that smoke from the neighboring Indonesian island of Sumatra was causing the air degradation.
