Tyco in Talks to Buy Williams of Britain

HAMILTON, Bermuda — Tyco International Ltd., the world’s No. 1 maker of electronic security and fire systems, is in talks to buy Williams of Britain, a maker of fire extinguishers and Yale and Chubb locks, a person familiar with the negotiations said Sunday.
Tyco plans to bid $5.76 billion for Williams, the world’s No. 1 maker of fire and security equipment, London’s Sunday Telegraph reported without citing its sources.
