Gun Checks

* After reading “Loopholes, Lobbyists Beset Proposed Gun Restrictions” (June 2), I became angered and confused at the beliefs and actions of gun rights activists. The bill currently in the House will require a background check on all sales at gun shows. This would close a loophole that allows criminals easy access to guns. Gun rights activists’ opposition to this bill baffles me.
This bill would not prevent any law-abiding American from purchasing a firearm, thus not infringing on their constitutional right to possess guns. The danger of allowing convicted criminals quick and easy access to guns is obvious, and I cannot fathom how anyone can be opposed to restricting their access to firearms.
