Brett Young/Baseball Calvary Chapel/Senior
He became only the second pitcher in county to record a 15-0 season, leading the Eagles to the Division V title. He earned victories in all five of the Eagles’ playoff games. In the championship game Young, a right-hander, threw 5 1/3 innings, giving up only three hits, striking out six and walking three, as Calvary Chapel defeated L.A. Baptist, 12-0, in a six-inning mercy-rule game.
Augie Escobar/Track and Field; Villa Park/Junior
Finished third at the state finals in the 3,200 meters with a time of 9:02.49.
Alex Bottom/Baseball; Corona del Mar/Senior
Drove in winning run in the bottom of the seventh, leading Sea Kings to Division IV title.
J.P. Frid/Baseball; El Dorado/Senior
Threw a complete game, giving up only five hits, as El Dorado won the Division III title.
