Fresh-Air Theater

Outdoor theater has a long and rich tradition in human history, from the amphitheaters of ancient Greece to the traveling bards of Olde England. Then, actors and playwrights brought their craft out from the halls of the privileged classes and into the parks and streets for all to enjoy. Well, centuries later, not much has changed in Southern California as local theater groups are presenting their plays in town centers, botanical gardens and train stations for a lot less than the price of a typical orchestra seat. From Shakespeare to Shaw, drama to comedy, Calendar Live! highlights all that is fresh and in the open air this summer season.
