The Secret of ‘Monet Blue’
While last week’s Pardon Our Dust feature, “The Color of Monet,” included several jazzy remodeling elements, it was the 2 gallons of blue paint on the walls that caught readers’ fancies.
So what blue did owners Harry and Laurie Schwartz use? We called construction coordinator Marshall Smith. Before the remodel, he showed the couple an ICI Dulux Paint color sample book.
Coming across a shade titled Delft China and numbered 1418, Harry announced: “Oh, that’s it. That’s it.” That blue was then added to ICI Dulux Ultra semigloss interior paint.
ICI color samples may be found at ICI Dulux Paint and other paint stores. The exact “recipe” depends on which brand and type of paint the color is added to.
