Favored Freespool Wins His Third Straight Race

Freespool, the 1-2 favorite, led all the way in winning Wednesday’s $48,700 feature race at Hollywood Park by 1 1/4 lengths over Driggs Retreat for his third straight victory.

Ridden by Chris McCarron and carrying 115 pounds, Freespool covered 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:15 2/5 and paid $3, $2.40 and $2.10.

The win was the third in five lifetime starts for Freespool and was worth $29,220, raising the career earnings of the 3-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Geiger Counter to $91,670.
