The Public Safety Committee on Wednesday discussed using an automated message system to alert residents of crimes committed in their neighborhood. The TeleMinder system also would allow residents to leave messages for police. Installing and maintaining the system would cost about $34,000, a figure accounted for in the city’s proposed budget for the upcoming year. Staff will present a recommendation Aug. 18.
