In response to “Cop Convicted, 3 Cleared in N.Y. Brutality Case” (June 9), regarding the police brutality case of Abner Louima, and as a 19-year-old female college student, I found Assistant U.S. Atty. Alan Vinegrad’s beliefs on the assault very interesting. Many women must deal with the violation and humiliation of rape and brutality every day, yet when a man goes through the same, it is called “one of the most horrific sexual assaults in modern history.”
