No. 3751, an 880,000-pound steam locomotive built in 1927, heads for Sacramento on Sunday. The train, once part of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe line, was restored by the San Bernardino Historical Society, which now owns it. The locomotive’s route would take it through Fullerton, Corona, Riverside, San Bernardino, Barstow and then on to Bakersfield before arriving in Sacramento. Its last trip before retirement was San Diego to Los Angeles, traveling at a speed of 73 mph.
