Jocketty Says La Russa Can Stay

Walt Jocketty, general manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, says Tony La Russa will be back for his fifth season as manager next year if he wants to stay, although there have been no talks yet. La Russa is entering the final year of a contract that pays him $1.5 million a year.

Cincinnati reliever Mark Wohlers will begin a rehabilitation assignment Tuesday at Rockford, the Reds’ affiliate in the Class-A Midwest League. Wohlers is on the 15-day disabled list because of an inability to throw strikes.
