Gang-Deterrent Play Staged in Monterey Park

“Light in the Darkness,” a gang-deterrent play by Victor Tamayo, will be presented by Kalli Xikano Productions Friday and Saturday, and June 25-26 at 8 p.m. at East Los Angeles College’s Little Theater, 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez, Monterey Park.
The company is part of the youth-run, nonprofit Rogelio Flores Foundation, working with community members through the theatrical arts. The play explores issues of identity, culture, teen pregnancy, drug pressures and abuse, and family. Tickets are $10; students, $7. (No one will be turned away if unable to pay.)
