Friedel G. Lentz, owner of Friedel’s Custom Draperies of Thousand Oaks, died Monday. She was 73.
Born Friedel Witterisch on Oct. 19, 1925, in Bingen, Germany, she married Stanley Lentz on May 30, 1948. In 1949, the couple moved from Germany to Wisconsin.
In 1962, the family moved to California. Lentz founded Friedel’s Custom Draperies in 1963.
Kerry Nelson of Decor Color and Design in Thousand Oaks said she enjoyed working with Lentz the past five years. She said Lentz had a special talent and decorated thousands of homes in the Conejo Valley during the past 30 years.
“She loved people, was helpful and very outgoing,” Nelson said. She added that Lentz was a good listener but also spoke her mind.
Lentz is survived by her husband of 51 years, Stanley; two daughters, Jeanette Guerin of Santa Monica and Elizabeth Lentz of Las Vegas; son Reuben Lentz of Greenwich, Conn.; and four grandchildren.
Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in her name.
Services for immediate family and close friends will be held Saturday.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Bros. Valley Oaks Mortuary, Westlake Village.
