3.0 Aftershock to Landers Quake Hits Near Barstow

BARSTOW — A small aftershock to the 1992 Landers earthquake shook San Bernardino County on Friday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, authorities said.
The magnitude 3.0 quake hit at 4:43 a.m. six miles north of Barstow, according to Nick Scheckel, a seismologist at Caltech in Pasadena.
It was an aftershock to the magnitude 7.3 earthquake that struck the area June 28, 1992, which was followed a few hours later by a magnitude 6.5 quake in the San Bernardino Mountains. The quakes killed one person and caused about $100 million in damage.
Barstow is about 93 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
