In recent issues [of the Los Angeles Times newspaper], I have noticed a trend that’s distracting [to my attention]. This is where the Times’ [witty and creative] staff inserts words or comments intended to explain athletes’ quotes. While many athletes don’t use King’s [proper] English, “cleaning it up” does a disservice to those of us who just want the facts.
