Four County Youth Soccer Teams Advance

Four Orange County-based club soccer teams won semifinal games Friday at the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships in Bakersfield and San Bernardino.
In the girls’ under-18 division, the Mission Viejo Mirage defeated the Davis Sidekicks on penalty kicks, 5-4, after going scoreless during regulation. The Mirage will play FC Portland Yellow in the finals today in Bakersfield.
In the girls’ under-15 division, the Wolfpack Blue of Huntington Beach defeated Sereno Golden Eagles of Arizona, 2-0, and will play Colorado Rush Nike at 8 a.m. at the CYSA-South Soccer Complex in San Bernardino.
In the girls’ under-14 division, the Southern California Blues of San Juan Capistrano defeated Santa Rosa United Tremors, 3-1, on goals by Dayna Knowles, Stacey Mescher and Joanna Irwin. The Blues will play San Ramon Illusion at 10:45 a.m. in San Bernardino.
In the boys’ under-13 division, North Huntington Beach defeated the Volcanoes of Hawaii, 3-0, and will play the La Jolla Nomads at 10:30 a.m. in San Bernardino.
The county’s other semifinalist, the Southern California Blues under-17 girls’ team, lost to Colorado Rush Nike on penalty kicks, 4-3.
Champions in the under-16 through under-19 divisions advance to the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships July 20-25 in Florida.
