Tonya Edwards scored a season-high 23 points and the Minnesota Lynx set a WNBA record with 14 three-point baskets in a 72-62 victory over the Utah Starzz Saturday in front of 5,705 at Salt Lake City.
Edwards’ three-pointer with just under seven minutes remaining gave the expansion Lynx (4-2) the lead for good, 58-56, as they outscored Utah, 21-6, over the final 9:11.
The Lynx broke the previous league record of 12 three-pointers, set twice by Houston in 1997. The Lynx took 28 attempts, two shy of another Houston record set in a double-overtime game last season.

Phoenix 66, Detroit 60--Jennifer Gillom had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Mercury (3-4) to a victory before 7,651 at Auburn Hills, Mich.
Reserve rookie Dominique Canty had 16 points for Detroit (4-4), which played without guard Jen Azzi, who sat out her second game in a row because of a strained left quadriceps.
Cleveland 76, Washington 65--Merlakia Jones scored 16 points and Chasity Melvin added 14 as the Rockers (1-7) gained their first victory of the season in front of a home crowd of 8,441.
