Jamaica’s OK, Mon

Regarding Edward Wright’s May 23 Travel Advisory column (“State Department Softens Warning on China Visit”), which reported on rioting in Jamaica in April: I had just returned from Jamaica on May 19--one of the best trips of my life.
Why would you run that story a month after the travel advisory was lifted? While the demonstrations were widespread, the violence was limited to private security people dealing with store looting when a few bad apples took advantage. Sounds like “home” to me.
My friend and I rented a car in Montego Bay and put nearly 1,000 miles on it. Among places we visited were Kingston, Mandeville, Port Antonio and Ocho Rios. Eight days all over Jamaica and “No problem, mon!”
