Trapped on Ship

Regarding “Late Debuts for Two Holland America Ships” (News, Tips & Bargains, May 16):
It is not a tragedy that the Holland America cruise ship Volendam will not be sailing until Nov. 12 instead of the planned Aug. 24, but for those of us who were looking forward to being on board between times, it is a major disappointment. My wife and I and another couple had booked the Volendam for the Oct. 2 New England-Canada trip. Many hours had been spent comparing other cruise lines and ships. We made our deposits, scheduled our flights and made our hotel reservations. We have elected to go on the Maasdam--it is a fine ship--but we feel entrapped instead of elated.
