Residents can say goodbye to the Marine Corps during a ceremony Friday marking the closing of El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. A detachment of light armored vehicles, a color guard and members of Marine Corps fraternal organizations will roll across the parking lot at El Toro High School, 25255 Toledo Way, at noon. A former commanding general of the air station will ceremoniously retire the base’s flag, and Mayor Peter Herzog will make a speech commemorating the Marines’ departure.
