The American Heart Assn. has honored three elementary school teachers in the Tustin Unified School District for their volunteer work in the Jump Rope for Heart program. Awards were presented to Sherry Lohman, fourth-grade teacher at Helen Estock Elementary; Jeanne Bentley, third-grade teacher at W.R. Nelson Elementary; and Gladys Carney, third-grade teacher at Tustin Ranch Elementary. The program teaches students the importance of exercise and healthful diets as well as the value of participating in community activities.
