Ice Dogs’ Comeback Falls Short

The Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Long Beach Ice Dogs, 5-3, before a crowd of 4,037 Saturday night in an International Hockey League game at the Long Beach Arena.
The Ice Dogs overcame a 3-0 deficit to tie the score, 3-3, on a goal by Nils Ekman at 5:01 of the third period, but Petr Schastlivy scored for the Griffins only 56 seconds later.
Robert Petrovicky sealed the victory for the Griffins, scoring his second goal of the game on a power play with 1:17 to play.
The Ice Dogs’ next home game is Nov. 3.
