A unit of Unilever agreed Wednesday to halt claims that Vaseline Brand Intensive Care Antibacterial Hand Lotion “stops germs longer than washing alone.” The Federal Trade Commission said the lotion’s effectiveness hadn’t been adequately established. . . . Also Wednesday, a unit of Shell Oil Co. and Castrol agreed to settle false-advertising charges over a gasoline additive. The FTC said Shell Chemical, among other things, provided trade customers such as Castrol with deceptive advertising, promotional materials and test results regarding its Vektron 3000 additives. Castrol in turn used the additive and the promotional materials for Castrol Syntec. . . . Sony Pictures Entertainment has awarded the advertising account for its Game Show Network to TBWA/Chiat/Day’s San Francisco office, the companies said Wednesday.
