Brea Olinda High School vocal instructor Mark Henson sent postcards to each of his students this summer, telling them he was leaving to take a similar position at Valencia High School.
The news sent a shock wave through the school and community. But in August, a second postcard was sent out. Henson, Brea Olinda’s 1997-98 Teacher of the Year, changed his mind.
“He told the kids, ‘This is where my heart is and this is where I want to be,’ ” said Craig Gramer, whose son Rick is in the choir.
