SOUTH WHITTIER — A young woman who died after being doused with a flammable liquid and set afire before dawn July 9 was identified Wednesday as Katrice Ann Whitfield of South-Central Los Angeles.
Sheriff’s deputies said firefighters discovered the body beside a machine shop on Inez Avenue after a neighbor heard the girl’s screams for help and dialed 911.
Michael Crosby, 36, of Norwalk and his 15-year-old stepson were arrested last week in connection with the attack. No motive has been revealed.
Deputies said Whitfield, 22, lived with a roommate in an apartment in the 7400 block of South Broadway.
