McNown: Case Is ‘a Distraction’

Admitting it is “a distraction,” Chicago Bear quarterback Cade McNown said he would like to explain why he doesn’t believe he should be lumped in with other players in UCLA’s handicapped-parking scandal.
“But right now I can’t because it’s a legal matter,” he said after practice in Lake Forest, Ill.
McNown’s case was continued until Sept. 30.

Cornerback Jason Sehorn worked out without feeling any pain in his injured left hamstring and said there is a chance he will play in the New York Giants’ home opener against the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

Although a week off would probably help, Green Bay Packer quarterback Brett Favre, who has a sprained thumb and muscle bruise on his throwing hand, said he will start Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.

The Philadelphia Eagles made more changes to their ineffective offensive line, promoting veteran Jeff Dellenbach to starting right guard and moving Jermane Mayberry yet again, this time from guard to tackle.
Mayberry replaces rookie John Welbourn, sidelined for the year after knee surgery.
Guard David Diaz-Infante and tight end Justin Swift were signed as offensive lineman John Michels was released.
