Ventura 44, Hancock 26--Running back Travis Rogers scored five touchdowns in a WSC Northern Division game at Ventura High.
Rogers scored on runs of four yards and one yard to put Ventura (3-0, 1-0) ahead, 14-0, in the first quarter. His 28-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter gave Ventura a 24-14 halftime lead.
The Pirates broke the game open, scoring 20 points in the first 5 1/2 minutes of the third quarter. Rogers, the WSC’s leading rusher, gained 138 yards in 31 carries.
Ventura forced five turnovers and had two sacks.
Ventura is ranked No. 12 in the state and Hancock (2-1, 0-1) is ranked No. 10.
