Moorpark 55, Pierce 22--After snapping a seven-game losing streak last week, the Brahmas received a harsh reality lesson in a WSC Northern Division game at Pierce.
The Raiders (1-2, 0-1) scored on a 22-yard run by quarterback Farhaad Azimi less than two minutes into the game and opened a 27-0 lead by the end of the quarter.
Moorpark, which had gained only 136 yards rushing in its first two games, rolled up 118 in the first quarter and 317 total.
Running back Bryant Phipps did most of the damage, rushing for 167 yards and four touchdowns in 18 carries.
Azimi completed 11 of 19 passes for 182 yards and reserve running back Donald Thompson had 73 yards and two touchdowns in eight carries.
Pierce (1-2, 0-1), which was outgained 499 yards to 382, was led by running back Joseph Looney with 92 yards and a touchdown in 11 carries.
Jamaal Washington was impressive for Pierce, completing eight of 14 passes for 149 yards and rushing for 25 yards and two touchdowns in six carries.
Running back James Augustus caught seven passes for 85 yards and rushed for 16 yards in two carries for Pierce.
