Miller Time as Montana Wins, 81-22

Drew Miller, who was able to practice only once in the last two weeks, completed 23 of 30 passes for 377 yards and four touchdowns in the first half Saturday and Montana routed Weber State, 81-22, at Missoula, Mont.
A shoulder injury forced the transfer from BYU out of Montana’s 41-38 double-overtime victory over Sacramento State two weeks ago. After a bye week, Miller showed no ill effects.
Yohance Humphery, Etu Molden and Nate Sanders each scored three touchdowns for Montana (3-0 overall, 2-0 in the Big Sky Conference), which scored on its first four offensive possessions.
The Grizzlies, ranked second in NCAA Division I-AA, had a 30-0 lead after one quarter on a one-yard touchdown run by Humphery and Miller’s scoring passes of 34 yards to Jimmy Farris, five yards to Jeremy Watkins and 20 yards to Molden.
The Grizzlies added a safety when Kelley Bryant tackled quarterback Cole Cooper of Weber State in the end zone with 25 seconds left in the first quarter.
Weber State (2-2, 1-1) answered with a 29-yard field goal by Mike Minnoch and a five-yard touchdown pass from Cooper to Richard Clark to made it 30-10.
Humphery ran 11 yards for a touchdown and Miller found Molden with a three-yard touchdown pass with 20 seconds left in the half to make it 47-16.
Montana had its highest point total since since 1924, when the Grizzlies beat Montana Tech 106-6. Weber State yielded the most points in its history.
Northern Arizona 29, Southwest Texas State 26--Travis Brown threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Francis St. Paul with 1:20 remaining to give the Lumberjacks a nonconference victory at San Marcos, Texas.
Brown completed 16 of 33 passes for 193 yards and three touchdowns, and St. Paul caught nine passes for 115 yards and two scores.
Ronney Jenkins, from Hueneme High, rushed for 111 yards in 16 carries and two touchdowns for Northern Arizona (2-1).
Bronson Sanders ran 25 times for 85 yards for the Bobcats.
Ross Doctoroff’s 19-yard field goal with 8:47 left in the second quarter gave Southwest Texas a 16-7 lead.
CS Sacramento 41, Montana State 10--Charles Roberts set a school record by gaining 277 yards in 28 carries while scoring four touchdowns for the Hornets at Sacramento.
Roberts ran for touchdowns of 51 and three yards to give Sacramento (3-1, 1-1) a 14-0 lead in the first five minutes.
The Bobcats (2-2, 0-1) closed to 17-10 at halftime on Ryan Johnson’s two-yard touchdown run.
Portland State 52, Idaho State 13--Jimmy Blanchard passed for 235 yards and four touchdowns at Idaho State (2-2, 0-2).
The Vikings (3-1, 2-0) had 211 yards rushing, led by Charles Dunn’s 175 yards and two touchdowns in 30 carries.
