DirecTV to Sell DSL Service at Circuit City

Hughes Electronics Corp.’s DirecTV Broadband unit plans to start selling high-speed digital subscriber line Internet service through Circuit City Stores Inc. next month, its first venture for DSL sales in retail outlets.
Terms weren’t disclosed. DirecTV, based in El Segundo, eventually will sell the service in 435 of Circuit City’s 598 U.S. stores, Circuit City spokesman Bill Cimino said. The service and modem will cost about $50 a month, DirecTV Broadband spokeswoman Debbie Mesloh said.
DirecTV, with more than 10 million subscribers, is the largest satellite-TV television provider and already sells the satellite television service at Circuit City. DirecTV said this month it planned to sell a separate high-speed satellite Internet service to its TV customers by next quarter.
