Militant Abortion Foe Breaks Out of Jail

Clayton Lee Waagner, who once claimed he was on a mission from God to kill doctors who perform abortions has escaped from jail in Clinton, Ill.
Waagner, 44, was being held at the DeWitt County Jail awaiting sentencing for weapon possession. Sheriff Roger Massey said Waagner was able to break out because of what he described only as a “design deficiency” in the 5-year-old jail.
The Kennerdell, Pa., man was arrested in 1999 after crossing into Illinois with his wife and eight children in a stolen Winnebago with four stolen handguns under a seat.
