From Times Wire Reports
An international consortium said it plans in April to start raising the Russian nuclear submarine Kursk from the Barents Sea. The Brussels- based Kursk Foundation plans to raise the Kursk--which exploded and sank Aug. 12--and tow it to the Russian port of Murmansk. The group is raising funds for the effort, expected to cost about $70 million and take four months. The bodies of 106 of the 118 crew remain on board. The Kursk also has two nuclear reactors and 22 armed missiles, prompting fears that the sub could leak radioactive material.
