Palmdale Man Is Charged With Murder

LANCASTER — A Palmdale man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a homeless woman, authorities said Monday.
Richard Daniel Estrada, 25, is to be arraigned at Antelope Municipal Court in Lancaster today, said Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. Estrada is being held on $1-million bail.
Carol Evjen, 49, was found by a jogger on Old Harold Road near Desert Oak Drive on Jan. 21. Authorities said she died of blunt trauma to the head and strangulation.
