Man in Fair Condition After Beachfront Attack

A 19-year-old man was beaten and stabbed by a group of teens early Sunday while sitting with his fiancee on the Ventura beachfront promenade, police said.
Daniel McGrath, of Ventura, was in fair condition at Ventura County Medical Center after surgery on a severed artery in his left arm, Ventura police said. He was attacked about 12:30 a.m.
McGrath knew one of the teens and had had problems with him in the past, police said. Despite that, he walked a short distance with the group to talk, but a fight ensued.
Police arrested one teen but declined to release details about him.
The investigation is continuing.
