A 20-year-old man was arrested after he led investigators to a grave site in a remote area of San Bernardino County where the body of a woman from Whittier was found, according to authorities.
Juan Jimenez, 20, whose address was not immediately known, was arrested on suspicion of murder after investigators made the discovery Saturday night, said Deputy Faye Bugarin, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Cristina Salazar, 24, had been reported missing June 25 from her home in the 13800 block of Crewe Street, according to authorities.
Sheriff’s homicide investigators found evidence at her home that indicated that she might have been the victim of foul play, Bugarin said.
After Jimenez was interviewed on June 29, he led investigators to Salazar’s body. The grave was found underneath power lines near Swarthout Canyon Road and Lost Lake.
The exact cause of death will be determined by coroner’s investigators, Bugarin said.
