Lawyer Gandy Becomes President of NOW

The National Organization for Women picked as its first new president in a decade a lawyer who wants to focus on legislative action and judicial appointments.
Delegates at the group’s convention in Philadelphia chose Kim A. Gandy, NOW’s executive vice president. She defeated businesswoman Toni Van Pelt, the immediate past president of NOW’s Florida chapter.
Gandy is scheduled to take office in August.
