Not Quite Severed

Re “Ex-Health Chief Wins Large Severance Package,” June 30: I understand Mark Finucane, L.A. County health director, was “pushed out by a board that was increasingly dissatisfied with his performance.” Why are we keeping him as a consultant with full pay, full benefits, free county office space, county laptop, cellular phone and gas card? The Board of Supervisors is concerned about a lawsuit, they say. It’s disappointing that out of five supervisors only Mike Antonovich questioned the decision. As a taxpayer I object to this lunacy and suggest the board direct its attention to the needs of the people in Los Angeles.
