Union Leader Praises Teachers’ ‘Rescue’ Role

In addition to educating America’s youth, teachers often “are in the business of rescue and redemption,” the president of the National Education Assn. said.
NEA President Bob Chase, in a keynote address to the teachers’ union convention, said America’s public schools “are filled with adults who rescue children and save the world in little ways every single day--often in the face of incredible odds.”
