Baseball Players Will Try Out for U.S. Team

Ten baseball players from Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties have been invited to try out for the U.S. under-16 national team July 20-27 in Houston.
They are pitchers Andy Beal and Case Dahlen of Palos Verdes Peninsula High, Jason Corder of Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley, Jason Dominguez of Chatsworth, Jared Hughes of Santa Margarita, and Zechary Zinicola of Riverside Arlington; infielders Jeff Flaig of Placentia El Dorado and Chris Valaika of Newhall Hart; outfielder Daniel Perales of Santa Ana Mater Dei and catcher J.P. Musgrove of La Canada St. Francis.
* Twelve Southland high school players have been selected to play in the Area Code Games Aug. 6-12 at Blair Field in Long Beach.
Selections include pitchers Bobby Paschal of West Hills Chaminade, Jake Coash of Canyon Country Canyon, Adam Simon of La Puente Bishop Amat, Steve Kahn of Anaheim Servite, Greg Acheatel of Woodland Hills El Camino Real, Eddie Baeza of L.A. Poly, Alex Merricks of Oxnard and Chuck Tiffany of Covina Charter Oak; infielders Ryan Braun of Granada Hills, Cody Haerther of Chaminade and Josh Bartusick of Fountain Valley; and outfielder Delmon Young of Camarillo.
